Emily died from pancreatic cancer at age 51 in 2005. She sought out the best treatments and battled to survive. Throughout it all, she kept her spirit, her deep love of people, and her sense of humor.  

She wrote: "And so the journey continues. I realize that there are so many unknowns and cancer cures are an art form, not a science. I have to keep reminding myself that there is not much in life that is black and white but mostly gray. So for now, I will live in the gray zone except for the one thing I feel absolutely clear and confident of, and that is the love that I feel for my friends and family − and that maybe be the best that one can know in life."

We walk to honor Emily and to support the Lustgarten Foundation, which is the nation's largest private supporter of pancreatic cancer research. Pancreatic cancer is the third largest cause of cancer deaths. The Lustgarten Foundation has corporate support that covers all of its administrative expenses, so that every dollar of donations goes to research for better treatment and a cure for pancreatic cancer.

Our donations will help to support research that hopefully will lead to saving the lives of all of us who might face the misfortune of having pancreatic cancer.
