We're fundraising for...
In October 2023, our family received news that would change our lives forever—our father was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer. We watched him face this disease with unimaginable strength, courage, and grace. Though his journey was incredibly difficult, he showed us the true power of love, resilience, and community.
While we miss him deeply, his spirit continues to guide us and inspire everything we do. This September, we are honoring his life and legacy by participating in the Albany Walk for Research on September 27, 2026, to raise funds for the Lustgarten Foundation, the nation’s largest private funder of pancreatic cancer research.
We’ve created a team—Witness Groatness—as a tribute to our dad and to everyone who is currently battling or has been lost to this devastating disease. Our team name is a play on our last name, Groat, and a celebration of the greatness of our father’s spirit and the unwavering support system that surrounded him.
The Lustgarten Foundation is dedicated to funding innovative research to improve early detection, treatment, and—ultimately—a cure for pancreatic cancer. Their impact is real and far-reaching. By supporting this fundraiser, you’re not only honoring our dad’s memory, but also helping to bring hope to thousands of families facing the same diagnosis.
We are asking for your help. Whether it’s a donation, sharing our story, or joining us at the walk, every act of support makes a difference. Together, we can stand up to pancreatic cancer—with purpose, unity, and love.
Thank you for supporting Witness Groatness and for helping us carry forward our father’s legacy. We believe in a future where no one has to face this disease alone.
