My Updates

Dad💜

Monday 31st Aug

I never really know how to write about my dad without getting emotional because there is honestly just so much I could say.

My dad, John Mescall, was one of the most giving, selfless people you could ever meet. He would do absolutely anything for anyone he loved and never expected anything back. He was never looking for attention, never wanted praise, and definitely would not want me making a whole production over him 😂 but that was just Dad.

He was simply the best.

And I miss him every single day.

There are still so many times I think, “I have to tell Dad this,” or I wish I could call him, hear his voice, get one of his hugs, or just have him here for all the things he should still be here for.

That part never really gets easier. You just learn how to live with it.

Pancreatic cancer took my dad, and I will always hate this disease for that. I hate how many families have had to lose someone they love because of it.

That is why I walk.

Not because it fixes anything. Not because it makes losing him any easier. But because it gives me a way to keep doing something for him.

I get to say his name.

I get to honor him.

I get to keep his memory alive.

And hopefully, by supporting research, we get one step closer to better treatments, earlier detection, and one day a cure so another family does not have to go through this same heartbreak.

On October 4th, I’ll be walking with Miles for Mescall for my dad, just like I always will.

And I seriously cannot thank everyone enough who has already donated. Every time I see another donation come through I’m like okay great, now I’m crying again 😂💜

But really, it means so much to me. The fact that people are willing to donate, support this cause, and help me honor my dad is something I will never take for granted. I appreciate every single person who has supported Miles for Mescall more than you know.

And Dad, I already know you would be telling me I’m being dramatic and to stop making such a big deal over you.

Absolutely not. 😂

You were too good of a dad and too good of a person for that.

I will always talk about you.

I will always be proud to be your daughter.

And I will always, always walk for you.

Love and miss you forever, Dad. 💜
