NYC Marathon

In honor of Carolyn Walker

Many of my favorite memories growing up revolve around the time I spent with my grandmother, Carolyn. Whether I was at “Camp Grandma” during the summer or she was visiting for the holidays, my grandmother was present in many of my favorite childhood memories. Growing up, and still to this day, I have always aspired to be like my grandma, who in my eyes, was the pinnacle of what it meant to be a good person. Carolyn was best known for her warmth, kindness, and unconditional love that radiated to all of those around her. Anyone that spent time with her can still hear her clear as day asking, “how would you like to do something nice for someone?” To my grandmother, life was about looking after one another, giving back, and ensuring everyone was always taken care of, constantly looking to make the world a better place.

This year will mark exactly 10 years since we lost her to pancreatic cancer, a disease that quickly took her away from us only a month and a half after her diagnosis. In honor of her legacy and all of the good she brought into this world, I am excited to run the New York City Marathon in her memory while contributing to a cause that I hold very close to my heart. Please consider donating to the Lustgarten Foundation to help fund critical research that may allow others affected by this disease more time to seek treatment, more time with their loved ones, and more time to leave their mark on this world. Thank you in advance for your support!
