They say that only the good die young, and that phrase never really meant much to me until I lost my father to pancreatic cancer. My dad was the kind of guy who on his deathbed was more concerned with how you were feeling than he was about his own mortality. An unparalleled father, husband, friend and mentor to many and a man who embodied what it meant to be selfless and strong at the same time. He never complained when he was sick and to give you an idea of his perseverance, as opposed to living bed ridden in the final moments of his life, he instead renovated an entire foreclosed 12 bedroom Inn whilst going through chemo and effectively dying. I know... he was crazy, but in the best way. Thus, in honor of my dad and his unique character and in honor of those also losing those who are least deserving of a young and painful death, myself and one of my best friends since birth Tyler Lewis are running the NYC marathon and raising money for the Lustgarten Foundation.
The Lustgarten Foundation is the nation’s largest private funder of pancreatic cancer research where 100% of your donation goes directly to pancreatic cancer research. Please join us in our efforts by donating in honor of my late father Rich, in honor of those suffering from pancreatic cancer, and in honor of the families that are left behind in the aftermath of such a devastating disease.
