Long Island Walk

Forever Fran - A beautiful Mom

I am participating in Lustgarten's Walk for Pancreatic Cancer Research to remember my mother, Francine Sue Benjamin, who passed away at the young age of 62 years old to this devastating disease. She was a Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Best Friend and Wife.

The day my mom was diagnosed, she lived each and every day to its absolute fullest. She experienced things that most people will never see or do in a lifetime. Mom never let her disease take over her life, it was just something she just had going on in the background. Even on hospice for 2 weeks, she lived to her fullest potential, having parties with the girls at the house, never saying no to anything, up and walking around until her very last day.

My true goal for this walk is to bring Mom's family and friends all together again. Mom believed in bringing people together always, I'd like to share that tradition at this walk.

Please donate to this page and provide hope to thousands of families touched by pancreatic cancer. Your contribution will help achieve our goal so that more funding can be allocated for research into early detection and new treatments. Please share this page with any friends you think might be interested in donating.

Why Lustgarten? They are the nation’s largest private funder of pancreatic cancer research. 100% of my fundraising and your donation funds pancreatic cancer research - research led by Lustgarten and powered by you!

My Updates

Sunday

Sunday 15th Sep
Today my kids asked about Grandma. This is always hard for me as I want to be consistent with my answers to them and also for them to never forget her. Sundays we usually spent the afternoons with Grandma, whether it was at the beach, their house or a park. Sundays were a special day that we had time for the family to be together. This day will be different for all of us.

Back to school

Wednesday 4th Sep

Today was the first day back to school for my son. He is now in the 1st grade! Today I would’ve have called my mom after drop off telling her every detail about my little Vincent’s morning. How excited he was to walk to school and see his friends all together again. I would’ve told her how he loved solar systems so much, he now has a backpack of planets all over it. (She recently took him to the planetarium). I would’ve told her how brave he was walking into school, like he was a pro already. She loved hearing about Vincent. I would’ve called her again after school and tell her that he had a great day. I miss being able to call her everyday.
