I'm fundraising for Michael Philion
This is our 9th year walking for our brother; this his story.
Michael--beloved son and brother, doting uncle, cousin, nephew, friend to many, and compassionate nurse--was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer in February 2015 who fought courageously for 8 months before Pancreatic cancer took him on his 51st birthday, October 24, 2015.
Michael had an incredible zest for life! He always looked forward to visiting his family and friends in upstate NY in the Fall. No visit would be complete without a trip to Hick's Apple Orchard and to enjoy the crisp cool air in the morning, simple pleasures we take for granted but met the world to him. He loved spaghetti dinners and baking his famous chocolate chip cookies! He was beloved by his nieces and nephews and was especially close to his great-nephew Max. We only wish he was able to meet is great niece Isabelle. What trouble those two would have gotten into!
At the age of 19, Michael earned his RN license and began a nursing career that lasted over 30 years. He touched thousands of lives as a floor nurse, in the OR, Cardiac cath lab and finally Interventional Radiology. In 2014, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of joining a medical mission to Peru that was able to serve over 80 individuals.
